Weekend Advices for Beer Belly

Beer belly

A lot of people are doing quite good when it comes to eating and drinking healthy during their work week. However, in the weekends many feel that they are over eating and drinking too much beer or other alcoholic drinks as well as soda with lots of sugar. Eating late night junk food is so typical on the social scene, as well as eating out where you will have less control of the content of unhealthy ingredients in what you eat. And it all adds up when it comes to beer belly growth.

This sounds familiar, even to me. I cannot just advice you not to drink beer or other drinks and beverages as this is a quite common part for most people. However it is possible to do some small adjustments on the weekends' dining and wining to reduce the damages.

If you like to drink beer, you can try to stick to light beers. For the stronger drinks you can get it mixed with non caloric soda, club soda for instance. So even if you don't reduce the consumtion of alcohol, you can reduce the amount of calories you get in connection with drinking it. But we all should be aware of that we will get a ton of extra empty calories every time we drink more than a couple of alcoholic drinks, so keeping it to a minimum will only do good for your beer belly.

Burger and fries

We also tend to end up in restaurants and places that offer deep fried food. It is a good advice to avoid deep fried food and especially substitute the fries with alternatives as a steamed vegetables or a salad. At least you will get your burger or whatever is on your menu, but you will reduce the calories by eating healthier side dishes to your meal.

People who are serious about their health, always stay away from trans fat and high fructose corn syrup (as is used in sodas). If you do this, it wouldn't do excessive harm to eat unhealthy food once a week, as long as you really watch you diet the other 6 days of the week. Eating unhealthy food once a week, also will make it easier for you to keep an healthy diet for the rest of the week.

In weekends, you have the ability to be more outside, especially if the weather is ok. Use some of the time doing some sprint workouts. Run for 100 meters as fast as you can, and rest for a minute or two. Then repeat this 5 to 8 times, and you have made a very good workout within the scope of 20 minutes.
